About

My study of history for the past six years has helped me to amass a wealth of useful (and useless) trivia. Currently, I am an undergraduate, working on a double degree of History and English Literature & Writing. I am a self-confessed lover of all things historically ‘quirky’. Hopefully this blog will get a few of you to fall in love with our past, like I did when I cracked open my first dusty book on the Weimar Republic. The name Florence Marwood is a portmanteau of two opposing figures in history; William Marwood, the infamous London Executioner and Florence Nightingale, the  woman most often associated in history with healing.
